Registries Automation Project
Thoracic Society or Australia and New Zealand is excited to announce that we are transitioning to digital surveys and real-time dashboards for our clinical quality registries. With Australian Severe Asthma Registry (ASAR) as the first to transition as part of the funded 2-years Registries Automation Project, this shift is aimed at enhancing continuous quality improvement efforts in severe asthma care. The digital surveys, which can be completed by participants, will promote greater engagement and ensure a more accurate, patient-centered data collection process. The transition is designed to improve data quality by increasing completeness through participant input, coupled with hard validation rules that minimise errors and ensure high data quality. This project not only streamlines the collection and analysis of data, but also enhances stakeholder engagement through both the process of co-design as well as the real-time view of the CQR’s data. Participants will have the ability to enter data, increasing ownership and accountability of their health information. Clinical staff will benefit from these options, clear validation rules, reducing administrative burden and improving time spent with patients. The digitalisation of the CQR is a strategic move towards a more integrated, open, efficient, and effective approach to severe asthma management.

Note: The Thoracic Society is a health promotion charity and its work involves collaborators from a range of backgrounds, as well as funding from a variety of sources. As such, it is inevitable that material personal interests exist and likely that conflicts of interest will occur. TSANZ Conflict of Interest policy is employed in any circumstance where a member of the Society is engaging in a collaborative pursuit in which their material personal interest may conflict with the Society’s goal and it covers all Branches, Sub-Committees, and Working Groups. As part of this policy, it is a requirement for all the Working Group members to complete the Conflict of Interest form https://thoracic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TSANZ-COI-Form_v2.pdf
