Get Involved with TSANZ

Getting involved with TSANZ is a great way to extend your networks and advance your career. Various roles within TSANZ subcommittees and working groups are now open to members.
QLD Branch Executives

Nominations have now opened for five (5) Executive Member positions in the TSANZ QLD Branch. Members from all professional groups are warmly encouraged to nominate.

Eligibility Requirements:
• All current Voting and Non-voting members of the QLD Branch are eligible to nominate themselves
• Only Voting members of the QLD Branch who are current in their membership fees may propose, second or support a nomination

Term: a two (2) year commitment – 2023 AGM – 2025 AGM (2 years)
After the two (2) year term has concluded, the Branch Executive Member shall be eligible for re-election for a further term of two (2) years. The Branch Executive Member shall not hold the office of Executive Member for more than four (4) consecutive years.

Nomination Process:
1. All members supporting a nomination must be financial members.
2. Due to the distance that separates most TSANZ members, the same form does not need to be signed by both members. A separate form can be sent in by the proposer, and seconder once it has been completed and signed as required.
3. If there are more nominations than positions to be filled, a vote will be held. Should an election be required, voting will be conducted electronically. Further information on the election process will be provided once nominations have closed.
4. Nominees are required to include a short 150-word candidate statement in addition to the nomination form. This is the statement that will be distributed to members in the event that an election is called. The 150-word limit will be strictly adhered to and the office will NOT edit statements. No opportunity to review statements will be provided after the close of the nomination period.

• Colour photo of the nominee (minimum 300dpi resolution)

Research Sub-Committee (RSC)

The Research Sub-Committee (RSC) oversees the TSANZ research program, ensures effective collaborations with our partners and stakeholders to grow respiratory research, and advises the TSANZ Board on matters relating to respiratory research as required.

TSANZ are seeking multiple members from all fields and disciplines with appropriate research expertise to join the RSC. We aim for a balanced representation of basic, clinical, and translational research expertise, encompassing a diversity of craft groups and including adult and paediatric fields on the committee.

Responsibilities:
• Provide advice on the strategic directions the TSANZ should take to support and promote research.
• Advise the TSANZ Board of any issues likely to impact on the research capacity of the TSANZ membership and respond to Board requests for advice.
• Develop and promote grants, fellowships and awards aimed at fostering high quality research within the Society.
• Ensure appropriate adjudication of research grants, fellowships, and awards for the TSANZ, and that those processes take place in a transparent and equitable manner.
• Develop educational strategies to increase the research skills of Members of the Society.
• Support and respond to the research needs of the Society.
